Practices for most teams start on April 2nd.  Please note that we are still in the process of finalizing Coach Pitch and Tee Ball teams!  These players should hear from their coaches by the week of April 6th

UMPIRE TRAINING CLINIC — will be held in April on 23rd and April 25th at 5:45 at Rotary Park — if interested in being an umpire – please attend.

Tuesday April 17th will be SSBA Night at SCHEELS for all Tee ball and Coach Pitch players & coaches

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.  ALL PLAYERS ATTENDING WILL RECEIVE A 20% DISCOUNT FLYER to be used for anything purchased in the Baseball Shop as well as a 25% DISCOUNT FLYER for any Baseball Shoes. (The discounts will be honored through 9PM on April 17, 2018 when the store closes)

Register to Win opportunities at the Event:  (2) Players will win $50.00 SCHEELS Gift Card & (2) Coaches will win a box of SSBA Logo Baseballs and 2 Hours of Schlitt Turf practice time!  Raffle will be held at 7:15pm in the SCHEELS Baseball Shop.  Must be present to win.

When you arrive at the store, please go to the SCHEELS Baseball Shop on the 2nd Floor to check in, register for the raffle and get your discount certificate (Certificates must be picked up at the registration table and must be used that evening).

Effective January 1, 2014 T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minors, and Majors (12 and Under) Bat Restrictions are as follows: Wood or non-wood bats may be used and must not be larger than 2 3/4 inches. There is no restriction with regard to the differential between length and weight, however, ALL bats with a larger barrel than 2 1/4 (i.e. 2 5/8 and 2 3/4), must have the certification of BPF of 1.15 or less.

As of 9/10/13, this bat restriction rule also complies with the AABC and USSSA standards.

Penalty if brought to an umpires attention (while the batter is hitting or immediately after the batter hits):

1st Offense: Batter is Out, Head Coach is issued a Warning

2nd Offense: Batter is Out, Head Coach is ejected

2018 UPDATE – Bats stamped with “USA” are allowed.


The Springfield Southwest Baseball Association was formed in 1989 to provide a healthy baseball environment for Springfield area players regardless of their skill level.

The league has grown to support hundreds of children, aged 5-18, as they experience our national past time.

NOTE – if lightning is seen during a game, there is a mandatory waiting period of 20 “rolling” minutes before the game can resume (20 minutes after the last sighting)
